Ceramics: Mask Making

Every culture seems to have masks used for different occasions. Try your hand at creating your own mask from pliable clay. Examine many examples, learn clay techniques, and make two decorative masks. The clay will be fired in a kiln to make it hard. Time will be spent in class painting and decorating the masks with materials students bring: acrylic paint, feathers, wires, shells, beads, etc. which will be discussed in class. Lab fee includes white raku clay and firing costs. Students will supply their own paint, brushes and embellishments at a cost of no more than $20. This class is for beginner or experienced students.
