Red Light Cameras
The Issue: The Sarasota County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution calling for the creation of a grass-roots coalition to support the use of red light cameras at selected intersections. The resolution, called “Green Light for Red Light-Cameras,” urged all 67 Florida counties and 410 municipalities to create a coalition to ask the state legislature to pass a measure enabling local governments to install red-light cameras that could be used to issue traffic citations.
