CYESIS is welcoming volunteers to become part of the "Lullaby League". Each year up to 90 children between the ages of 2 weeks and 4 years old are cared for in the program's childcare center. These babies and children rely on CYESIS staff and volunteers to provide consistent, warm, and gentle nurturing in order to support their health and educational development. Volunteers are greatly needed to fulfill this role.
Members of the Lullaby League will be assigned to one of the children's groups to provide nurturing and support to children on a regular basis. Volunteers will be asked to spend their time rocking babies, cuddling babies, and talking or singing to babies. They may also be asked to feed babies and change diapers. Regular staff members have been trained to work with volunteers and will supervise and guide each volunteer. Lullaby League members are needed from 7:45 until 2:00. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 2 hours each week.
The CYESIS childcare program fosters a nurturing and enriched atmosphere that enables each young child to develop the necessary skills for physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth so that school readiness is achieved.
The overall goals of the CYESIS program of the Sarasota County Public Schools are to help teenage parents achieve academically, increase self-esteem, make healthy decisions, prepare for high quality employment, and understand the impact of parenting on their child's development.
If you are interested in being a member of the Lullaby League please contact Katherine Kourapis at 361-6240. |
